Smitty's Better Burger

My first duty station in the Air Force was Langley AFB. Soon after my arrival one of my buddies introduced me to Smitty's. After that, every payday I would treat myself to something from their tasty menu - usually a Super burger. The friendly car hops, great service, and their 'easy on an airman's meager paycheck' prices kept me coming back! That was 20 plus years ago and I still go to Smitty's any chance I get.

Pros: Fast service, good tasting food.

I recently went to Hampton the visit my Grandma while she and my Step Mom were visiting one of my Grandma's friends. Apparently my Grandma lived in Hampton when my Dad was a baby and she worked (of all the places) at Smitty's. That was about 40+ years ago! Well she insisted that I try this place. Wow! My boyfriend is taking a trip downt here this weekend and I'm making him bring me back a burger or two! =) If you're in the area you gotta try it...it'll be worth every cent!

I go to Smitty's every Saturday, I have never been dissapointed with the food or the service. The waitress's are fun to talk to and to watch, they have a very hard job, their leggs have our respect. Their Super-Burgers Are the best, My Grilfriend and I will never stop visiting Smitty's. They have my vote as the Best of the Best.

Having lived in Hampton for 40 of my 50 years I have been going to Smitty's most of my life. You can't really go wrong by choosing anything off the menu but the homemade coleslaw is what gets me back every time. I get the large size to take home and enjoy all week, I have found none better anywhere.

The restaurant at first glance, looked poorly maintained and run down. However, Smitty's did not disappoint. Our waitress walked up to our car within 30 seconds of our arrival. We both ordered Super Burgers (I think the word SUPER just caught our attention). I got waffle fries and she got the regular fries. Our food came out before the song on the radio finished (about 3 minutes). Our burgers were hot and fresh, well done, and flavorful. The fries were light and crispy. The waffle fries were just as good, and seasoned. Our waitress was prompt and courteous, the food was great, and all at a great value. This was our first time eating there, and we definitely plan on making it one of the restaurants we frequent. I will definitely provide an update after several more trips.

Pros: Good Value, Great Burgers, Great Service

Cons: Atmosphere

i used to live about a mile from smitty's, and we ate their about once a week. (My dad even had the shirt). The prices are terrific, the service is unique, and the Smitty's better burger is delicious. But their burgers are not the only delicous dish. Their menu is full of the best food for the best price!

Yes, Smitty's has been around for more years than most can count, but the food is only as good as the cook's next effort. When my son and I visited Smitty's, based on the recommendations in this forum, we were very pleased with the friendly service (remembering that these ladies do work for tips), but we drove away disappointed with the quality and flavor of the food. Looking at the condition and appearance of the restaurant makes one wonder just how long this old, established eatery will remain, because the quality of the food isn't going to pack em' in. Unfortunately, the praise has turned to hype for this landmark drive-in.

I grew up in Hampton and started going to Smitty's ever since I can remember...and I am 55 now. Their food is Excellent,always hot,the burgers are outstanding and huge.. and service is always fast and the waitresses are Always curteous.. TWO THUMBS UP ON THIS ONE!!!!!

I grew up going to Smitty's drive-in at least once a week. They have the best and tasty burgers. The most friendly staff of people working and most willing to give the best service. Everything on the menu is good and there is quite a variety. Whenever I go back to visit I always go by and have some fine food and fond memories.

Pros: tasty burgers, good value, fun time

Cons: needs more parking
