I talked so much about Capt. George to my friend that he finally took me there the day after mothers day. He enjoyed it to the utmost that he wants to go again. My thing is I am a diabetic and I would like dessert after my meal also. The waiter said that they only get on order of sugarfree cheese cake and it was gone that day. It is just Monday. Please If you guys read any of this please think of atleast one dessert that is sugarfree that will be on the menu regularly. The waiter was wonderful. Where is the lobster? Other wise it was ok to me but great to him.
Pros: If you are a seafood lover.
Cons: No sugarfree items to choose from and expensive

Listen, to each is her\his own. But if you didn't thoroughly enjoy yourself, you probably weren't at Capt. George's. We left the joint "hi fiven". In fact the next time I go (which is this spring), I'm considering bringing a wheel chair. Flat out the best seafood house I've ever been to.
Pros: Excellent everything.
Cons: CONtinue to provide the same service. the minute it changes, I'll know.

Nothing on the buffet was good! Our first time at the VA Beach Captain Georges very low quaility food, crab legs are very small, soft and appeared to be old, steamed shrimp, scallops, oyster and fried shrimp all over cooked and dry. I believe the scallops are fake, side dishes bad. One positive is the fresh baked bread. I really miss the Fishermans Wharf seafood buffet in hampton :(
Pros: THUMBS DOWN
Cons: NONE

I came back to the place everyone used to rave about as one of the best Seafood places to go in the Mi-Atlantic, and to my surprise, the ownership/management have sacrificied quality. The Salad table is about half of what it used to be. There used to be an entire table with every salad you could imagine, and now it's down to a selection of a few salads, which none looked inviting in a Seafood buffet restaurant. The broiled seafood table looked pretty scary. The food was off-colored, and you couldn't tell if it was seafood or the the "mixings or sauces" served with. The Fried food table was good enough to earn one of the stars, albeit not at the standard that it was 10 years ago (or at other places in the area today). There was an abundance of Crab Legs, where they earn the other star in the rating. If you're coming for just for the Crab Legs and nothing else, you're coming to right place. Always abundant and hot. Service was OK. The girl that was seating us tried to put us in a room where it felt like a school cafeteria. When we asked her to sit us somewhere else, she didn't care for the request to walk an additional 10 yards. The waiter was very friendly, and always paid attention to ensure we had something to drink. Morale to the comparison between now and 10 years ago is that they are not what they used to be, and you may be able to satisfy your entire family somewhere else.
Pros: Crab Legs
Cons: Everything Else

It has been a few years since we visited Captain Georges. This restaurant is nothing like it once was. The fried seafood seemed to come from a bag (not hand breaded) and the oysters were terrible. I do honestly prefer the fried seafood at Long John Silvers over the offering this evening at Capt.Geo. Buffet. The only item that we found above par were the steamed shrimp. I was truely sorry to see that this once excellent restaurant has drifted the way of many(cutting quality for proffit which is not necessarily there fault) .If the previous quality of buffet was offered we would have been more than happy to pay more. I must say that the service was attentive and freindly. Save your money and go elsewere when splurging for a good seafood dinner.
Pros: No lines -dined on Thursday night
Cons: Poor fried seafood

I don't know what "markholt" is talking about. This place is great and has been for some time. Every time my family comes down, we eat at Captain Georges. The server calling you 'honey" or "baby" just adds to the atmosphere of the restaurant and the area you're in. We have never had a complaint about this place. I love it and will continue to go back. The previously mentioned reviewer needs to remove that stick from their behind and lighten up. Not all servers are coke heads....maybe some, but not all. On top of that, they'er usually very attentive and alert, ready for just about anything.

Okay, so last night my lovely wife wanted to do something nice for my birthday and take me to a suposedly wonderful Seafood Buffet. I am warning everyone in tidewater, DO NOT GO TO CAPTAIN GEORGE's. First off the food was terrible. The salmon was completely gross and over seasoned, topped with cheese? who wants tons of cheese on a perfectly good fish? Horrible! The crab legs were cold, not "on ice alaskan king crab style cold" we're talking taken out of the steamer and left to sit for a day cold. Not to mention there must have been over 1,000 people there. the foot traffic was horrible, it was complete chaos and a VERY stressful environment to have to pay $70. Another problem, our server gave us our drinks, and was never heard from again until I actually said something 30 minutes later. This is the problem we Tidewater people are going to keep running into time and time again, coke heads being hired as wait staff. I'm sorry but I hate judging people, but if you were one, you know what they are, how they look and how they act. I felt really bad for my wife, here she was trying to do something nice for my birthday, and this "seafood buffet" pretty much threw our money, time, and stomachs away. For the records, if you are waiting in a nice establishment, it is VERY insulting to be called "baby, sweetie, hunnay or darling," which our "alternate" waitress continued to do. I did complain to the manager who I swear thought I was going to assault him, which was not the case at all. I was complaining about what I have mentioned above, so they gave us a $20 gift card, what the hell am I going to do with that? I'm never setting foot into that place EVER again. I posted more on this elswhere and have reported the conditions of the bathroom to the city. The waste baskets were overflowing and toilet paper with feces was on the toilet seats and floor.
Pros: None
Cons: Everything I have posted
