Editorial Review for Baker's Crust Bread Market – by Charleen Pine
The Scene
Bright and airy during the day, this bustling brasserie moodily dims the lights come evening. Everyone seems to eat here: office workers and power brokers for lunch, families for dinner, and first dates later at night. The somewhat confusing reservations policy can be summed up thusly: call early or expect to wait during peak dining hours.
The Food
Served on your choice of two-dozen gourmet breads, generous sandwiches are available throughout the day. Layering sliced chicken breast, raspberry cream cheese, apples, and veggies on a fruit and nut bread is just one of the ways the staff creates flavorful, textured combinations. While the entrees can sometimes be bland, the artisanal breads and decadent desserts shine. Made-to-order, the dessert crepes--from the light Citron to a heavier hazelnut-chocolate--are big enough to share. The question is why would you?

Insider Tips
When to GoBaker's Crust serves breakfast seven days a week, but mid-week is the best time for eggs and toast--weekends get very crowded.
Know Before You GoIf you don't have time for a sit-down meal, pick up dinner on your way home. Whole rotisserie chickens, with mashed potatoes and green beans, are available for a reasonable price.

Great menu options for breakfast and lunch (I have not tried dinner there yet). The food is above average in my opinion, especially if one of their specialty breads is involved. The several times I have been there, I have had really slow service; granted they are always extremely busy, but still the service is slow in my opinion. You can't go wrong with one of their baked goods or sandwiches at lunch. A good place to take people who are visiting.
Pros: Extensive menu, excellent baked goods
Cons: Service, long wait to be seated

Great bread and great food. Maybe I have poor taste, but contrary to a previous review, I actually think the coffee is excellent. This restaurant would be a good choice for a first lunch date. If you love crepes, this restaurant is also an excellent choice.
