Editorial Review for Aldo's Ristorante – by Lori Surago Logan
The Scene
Enter through the marbleized Roman entryway into a comfortable, contemporary Italian countryside. From the rolling hills of a panoramic mural to the authentic wood-fire brick oven, earth-toned warmth and style surround relaxed, well-dressed diners. Service is gracious, as the waitstaff guides you through the tantalizing Italian menu.
The Food
Six large shrimp smothered in rich Gorgonzola, brandy and lobster broth are first-course perfection, but so is the eggplant stuffed with Italian cheeses and spinach. Pescatore, a seafood lover's delight of scallops, tender shrimp, calamari and shellfish, is flavorful and elegant atop a mound of al dente linguine. Chicken and prawns blend flawlessly with fresh basil and creamy tomato sauce in the penne mare e monti. Pizza comes piping hot from the oven, topped with anything from portobello mushrooms to goat cheese and pine nuts.

One of the things I noticed during our visit to Aldo's was the high number of regular customers. The interchange between the staff and these guests was very special and speaks well of this excellent Italian restaurant. Arriving at 3:30 pm we were too early for the daily specials (starting around 4:00 pm) but we found the service to be excellent. The Focaccia Bread is prepared to order in their brick oven and seems to be nearly a must . . . I agree. We had the Zucchini Fritti and were pleasantly surprised with small strips of light and flaky battered zucchini. Served with a squirt of lemon and wonderfully fresh and hot marinara sauce, this appetizer was a real treat. I had the dill salmon which was unusual, but very good. I needed to add a little salt, but that's much better than the reverse. My wife had the Pescatore and was quite pleased. The calamari was tender and all the seafood tasty. For desert, we tried the Banana Chocolate Chip Cake and coffee . . . GREAT CHOICE. I highly recommend this place, only wishing I had it near my home.
Pros: Great food, atmosphere, and service at a reasonable price.
Cons: hmmm . . . can't think of any.

We have been going to Aldo's for years now. It is the most consistent restaurant around. The service has never been less than attentive and knowledgeable, the food has always been very good, and the overall experience has more than satisfied our picky tastes and expectations - every time. When we know we want a dependable, delicious, and well-tended meal where we feel pampered, spoiled, and sated, Aldo's is always our Ristorante of choice!
Pros: Consistent, very professional wait staff, delicious, ambiance
